I’m a charter member of The Desk Drawer, an interactive writing group that provides one exercise per week that members are encouraged to post to. The list includes published and unpublished writers of a variety of ages, styles and genres. This is what the list owner says about her list: “The Desk Drawer is an interactive e-mail-based writing exercise group. It’s purpose is to encourage writers to hone their skills in a noncompetitive, but accountable, environment where we can each learn what parts of our writing actually communicate what we meant to say, what parts don’t, and thus grow as writers.” If you like to write, and to encourage other writers to do their best, you might want to check it out. I’m glad I did. [Chas]
I’m also a member of Digital-Women, and have been since it began. There’s a tremendous wealth of business information on the Web site and in the brains of the women on the list. The list and the site are focused on business, focused on women in business, and based in total integrity. To my mind, for my purposes, it’s at least as important a resource as Google, and far more personal. If you choose to join as a Professional Member, I’d be pleased to have you use my affiliate link -- Join Digital-Women. There is also a good bit of information available without joining the group. [Chas]
Daryl Spadaccini’s DSO Music site is a refreshing break from our daily routines. First, of course, there’s the music — with a few mp3 songs you can play on your computer. Then there’s the car, the beach and the sense of dreams that must be coming true within an eye-blink or two. I (Maggie) don’t sing, but Chas has been singing Daryl’s music for almost 10 years. She’s even a featured soloist on one of his CDs, Angels Who Walk. Three of Daryl’s CDs are highlighted on his site. All are also available directly from Daryl by e-mail. Tell him we sent you. (-: My favorite is his new one, Connecting. Chas likes Legacy best, saying “Connecting is my next favorite by about a breath.” Many of us laughed over the fact that Chas treated her dog (before he wore out and died) to Daryl’s music any time she was gone. Thanks to the repeat feature of her CD player, that dog stayed happy even when his person was gone for hours at a time. [Maggie]
We’ll be adding more places to this list as we have the time, so please check back now and then.
